Course Focus/Milestones:

• Social/Emotional-

​-Model, talk about and describe the words to feelings connection.

-Explore through touching, smelling, tasting and seeing!

-Fostering the child parent bond through songs, eye contact and facial expressions.

• Language/Communication-​

-​Practice recognizing and making sounds  other than cries. (cooing, mimicking, babbling).

-Initiating intimacy cues such as raising arm's to be lifted.

-Name recognition, sing alongs and attention focusing activities.

• Cognitive-

​-Learning, thinking and problem

 

solving through games and

 

interactive activities.

​

-Practicing object permanency.

​

-Lot's of reading!

• Physical-

-Gross and fine motor practice.

-Tummy Time/Crawling practice.

-Sensory stimulation and exploration.

-Practicing simple gestures such as,

pointing, waving and shaking head yes and no.

-Engaging in parallel play (playing next to other children).

-Practice following 1-2 word directions with a gesture and a word.

-Practice recognizing emotions and facial cues (lot's of visuals).

-​Reading to and with the children. (pointing to items in books when asked to).

-Singing attention focusing song in a large group setting. 

-Practice recognizing and saying

 simple words.

-​Learning thinking and problem

-Identifying the body (head,

 

shoulders, knees and toes).

-Practicing object permanency

(looking for items you hide).

-Practice engaging in conversational speech (responding to questions about a book read to them, etc).

-Engaging in literacy activities such as: reading, singing, writing/scribbling and graphics practice.

-Practice responding to their name.

-Ask "who", "what" "when" "where" "why" questions.

-Engaging in singing, acting and dancing.
